Welcome to the Journey of the Ensemble Bella Musica
– Mozarteum Salzburg
In a world marked by growing tensions, music has the power to unite. With this year’s European Mozart Ways tour, the young musicians of the Ensemble Bella Musica want to send a clear message: for cultural exchange, for unity, and for a Europe built on dialogue, respect, and diversity.
Our 2025 musical journey leads us to the charming city of Lucca, birthplace of Giacomo Puccini. We begin with an intense rehearsal residency in the historic Villa Principessa, where tradition and inspiration meet. A central highlight of our stay will be new artistic collaborations with the Teatro del Giglio “Giacomo Puccini” and the Conservatorio “Luigi Boccherini” – a celebration of the musical heritage of both Lucca and Salzburg through their musical giants, Puccini and Mozart.
A very special moment: the world premiere of a symphonic work by Marianna Bottini (1802–1858), an outstanding woman composer from Lucca. At only 18, she was admitted “compositrice cum laude” to the Accademia Filarmonica di Bologna – just as W. A. Mozart had been 50 years earlier.
This year we also honor Antonio Salieri, a contemporary and colleague of Mozart, whose work is receiving renewed attention on the 200th anniversary of his death.
Thanks to the Mozarteum Foundation Salzburg, the concert in the Teatro Girolamo will offer a unique experience: the voices of history will resound as our young musicians perform on Mozart’s very own Klotz violin (ca. 1760) and viola (ca. 1700).
We invite you to share this inspiring journey with us – and we warmly thank our sponsors, whose generous support makes this cultural bridge building possible.
