Benefit Concert for a Mozart Church
Sunday, May 3, 5 PM – Paulskirche, Kirchheimbolanden
At the end of January 1778, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart spent about a week in Kirchheimbolanden. This visit is commemorated by a benefit concert organized by the Rhineland-Palatinate state foundation Villa Musica on May 3 at 5 PM in the baroque Paulskirche, where Mozart once played the organ. As the church can no longer be maintained, a foundation is currently being established to secure its future.
Villa Musica and the town of Kirchheimbolanden are both members of the European Mozart Ways and are committed to preserving this special site through concerts. In addition to performing in the Paulskirche, Mozart also made music at the palace, accompanied by his student Aloysia Weber.
The concert program includes the Flute Quartets in D major and G major, the Salzburg Duo KV 423, and excerpts from the Divertimento KV 563. Four award-winning young musicians from Israel, Namibia, Poland, and South Africa will perform. They all study at German music academies and are supported by Villa Musica.
