Bella Musica

Ensemble Bella Musica Mozarteum
YOUNG AMBASSADORS OF THE EUROPEAN MOZART WAYS

The Bella Musica Mozarteum Ensemble is a project of the Pre-College of the University Mozarteum Salzburg under the artistic direction of Stefan David Hummel. Since 2017, the ensemble has been closely associated with the European Mozart Ways, actively contributing to their vision of fostering vibrant cultural exchange across Europe.

The ensemble brings together outstanding young musicians from across Europe and beyond. This diversity reflects a shared artistic and social philosophy: music is experienced as a space for dialogue, mutual respect, and collective responsibility. Within this international community, a vivid image of an open, culturally connected Europe comes to life.

A defining feature of Bella Musica is the close integration of artistic excellence and educational responsibility. Its rehearsal process is designed to cultivate teamwork, personal initiative, and communication skills. Collaborative work on sound, style, and interpretation, combined with openness to diverse cultural perspectives, strengthens the musicians both artistically and personally while reflecting the educational mission of the University Mozarteum Salzburg.

The ensemble's European dimension is most evident in its activities along the European Mozart Ways. Following the historic routes of Wolfgang Amadé Mozart, the young musicians experience first-hand the cultural connections that unite Europe's countries and share this heritage through their concerts. Since 2024, the International Mozarteum Foundationhas entrusted the ensemble with original Mozart instruments for concert tours and performances, including concerts at Mozart's Residence in Salzburg. This unique privilege brings Mozart's sound world to life with exceptional authenticity and lends the project remarkable artistic depth.

The ensemble has received growing international recognition, including its appointment as Rotary Ambassador (2025)and its inclusion in Austria's Atlas of Good Teaching by the Federal Ministry of Education (2026). Performances at the Federal Chancellery in Vienna (2025) and the Felsenreitschule Salzburg (2026), together with upcoming projects such as a concert in the Radio Vatican Concert Hall with Europe-wide broadcast, invitations to international festivals—including Verona 2027—and appearances as part of the International Mozart Week, underline the ensemble's expanding European presence.

As a musical ambassador of a young, diverse, and culturally connected generation, the Bella Musica Mozarteum Ensemble embodies the spirit of the European Mozart Ways: bringing together history, education, and vibrant artistic practice in contemporary Europe.
